What's Open, What's Closed on Thanksgiving in Reading

Supermarkets and liquor stores will be closed.

Supermarkets: Closed

Retail stores: Unlike most states, Massachusetts retail stores are closed on Thanksgiving.

Liquor stores: Closed

Other: Some local gyms are open on Thanksgiving, including Reading Athletic Club, which welcomes residents from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be several classes offered in the morning hours and non-members can come to the gym for $10.

City, Town, State and Federal offices and facilities are closed: This includes schools, libraries and the Postal Service. Only emergency services are available.

Except in the case of city, town, state and federal offices, many establishments in the categories listed above will reopen on Friday, Nov. 29. In addition, the Postal Service will resume mail delivery on Friday, Nov. 29. Other government offices will reopen on Monday, Dec. 2.
