State Reps. Donato, Brodeur, and Dwyer Endorse Lewis for State Senate

Today, the campaign for Jason Lewis announced the endorsements of State Rep. Paul Brodeur (D – Melrose), State Rep. Paul Donato (D – Medford), and State Rep. Jim Dwyer (D – Woburn). All three Representatives currently represent a portion of the 5th Middlesex state Senate district. Lewis recently won the Democratic primary for state Senate, with the general election to fill the seat set for April 1.

“As someone who has served in the legislature for over ten years, I have had the pleasure to see Jason grow and develop as a truly effective legislator,” said State Rep. Paul Donato, who serves part of the city of Malden. “The 5th Middlesex district will be well served by someone who is able to collaborate closely with all his colleagues to get things done for his communities, and I am proud to endorse Jason in this race.”

State Rep. Paul Brodeur’s district covers all of Melrose, and parts of Malden and Wakefield. In his endorsement of Lewis he stated, “Jason has been a very strong leader in the State House on issues such as reforming our education funding formula so that all schools receive adequate and equitable funding. I’ve seen how passionate he is about this and many other issues, and I’m excited to support someone who is a leader on the issues that impact the communities I represent.”

State Rep. Jim Dwyer, who currently represents part of the town of Reading, stated, “For four years Jason and I shared the honor of representing the town of Stoneham. During that time, I saw first hand how committed Jason was to bringing results to his district and I know he’ll bring that same drive to improving the quality of life for all families in the state Senate district.”

The three state Representatives join Congresswoman Katherine Clark, who recently announced her endorsement of Lewis, in supporting the Democratic nominee. A current list of organizations and leaders who have endorsed Lewis can be found at www.electjasonlewis.com/endorsements.

Lewis currently serves as state Representative for the 31st Middlesex District, including Stoneham and Winchester.  Lewis is the vice-chair of the Joint Committee on Public Health, and co-founded the legislature's Prevention for Health Caucus. He has led efforts in the legislature to improve the quality of healthcare for all and to ensure that all public schools receive adequate and equitable funding.

Lewis attended public schools, and received his undergraduate degree and MBA from Harvard. He and his wife Susan, a middle school science teacher, are the proud parents of two daughters, Sophie and Jessie. Before Lewis was elected state Representative, he helped build two successful software companies, which created hundreds of high-tech, good-paying jobs.

The special election for the 5th Middlesex State Senate seat will be held on April 1st. The senate district includes the cities and towns of Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, and parts of Winchester.
