Family Outings at Jordan's Save Money, Entertain Kids

Two members of our Reading Patch Moms Council weigh in on how Jordan's can be easy on the wallet or purse.

Saving money while also still partaking in great events, services and food is a common mission for families.

In future weeks, Reading Patch will use this space to bring you deals and discounts from area retailers. This week, though, we and our Moms Council have decided to bring you a reliable, local and low-cost outing for your and your children:

If there’s one thing that people outside know about Reading, it’s probably the on Walkers Brook Drive.

While the store offers some high-priced, high-quality entertainment in addition to furniture, it can also be a pretty inexpensive place to spend a few hours.

Alicia Botticelli-Tarasuk, a member of the Reading Patch Moms Council, said that her kids refer for Jordan’s as “the fun store.”

“We go there as a family, watch the artists and water fireworks,” Botticelli-Tarasuk said. “We may get an ice cream, which, yes, costs money but not much in comparison to other outings.”

She said her kids even enjoy walking through the bedroom displays and pointing out what pieces of furniture they would like in their room.

“This trip, believe it or not, does kill at least an hour and a half or longer,” Botticelli-Tarasuk said. “We have fun as a family and keep it a low cost night.”

Erin Calvo-Bacci, another member of our council, noted that Jordan’s houses two “great” local businesses: and Fudruckers.

Both establishments, she said, “offer a quality product that won't break the bank.”
