Abandoned 911 Call Leads to Assault and Battery Arrest

A sampling of calls handled by Reading Police Department in recent days.

The following information was compiled based on reports from the Reading Police Department and Woburn Police Department. An arrest does no indicate a conviction.

Arrests

Police responded to a South Street home for a 911 abandoned call on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 7:14 p.m. 

After searching the area, police arrested Edward A. Gallagher, 80, of 423 South Street, Reading, and charged him with assault and battery.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

  • At 12:33 a.m. a resident reported noises coming from Coolidge Middle School.
  • At 5:47 a.m. a building check of a Main Street business was conducted after an outer pane of glass in a service window was broken. The building was secure.
  • At 8:02 a.m. a two-car crash was reported in a driveway on Washington Street. No injuries occurred.
