Blown Tire Injures Officer's Eardrum

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the Reading Police Department from Monday through Wednesday. The information is open to the public.

Recent Arrests:

On Monday, July 8, police arrested James M. Mula, 49, of 6 Highland Street, Framingham, for two outstanding warrants and operating a motor vehicle after a suspended license. In a separate arrest, Daniel Patrick Schwarz, 20, of 11 Wilson Street, Reading, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. 

On Tuesday, July 9, following an investigation into a robbery at TD Bank, Reading Police and Wilmington Police combined to arrest Timothy J. Doyle, 30, of 1 Kelly Road, Wilmington, for unarmed robbery.

Monday, July 8

  • At 7:58 a.m. a motor vehicle crash was investigated on Salem Street. An officer was requested to assist with paperwork.
  • At 9:38 a.m. a resident brought in an iPhone with an orange and gray case that was located on Harrison Street.
  • At 12:53 p.m. an ambulance was called to Thomas Drive for a two-year-old that struck its head on a chair rung.
  • At 1:04 p.m. a tire blew out next to a Reading Police sergeant, injuring his right ear drum during an incident on Birch Meadow Drive. It was during this incident that Mula was taken into police custody.

Tuesday, July 8

  • At 2:32 p.m. the odor of natural gas was reported on Main Street in the area of South Street.
  • At 3:24 p.m. a possible fraudulent solicitaiton for the Lions Club was reported on Pine Ave.
  • At 10:51 p.m. malicious destruction of property on High Street was reported as an officer came across two potted plants that had been knocked over.

Wednesday, July 9

  • At 12:06 p.m. a resident on Line Road reported a breaking and entering to their home. According to the caller, jewelry was stolen from the residence.
  • At 4:25 p.m. a caller reported jewelry missing from a home on Mill Street.
