Deaf Man Hit by Train in Reading

A 56-year-old man and his dog were hit by a train Thursday.

At 7:13 a.m. Thursday, a resident reported that a 56-year-old deaf man was hit by a train while waiting at the station. According to , the man was transported to the hospital.

The man was waiting with his dog for a commuter rail train when the train hit him. He did not hear the bells, and was facing the opposite direction of the warning lights, police said. An officer believed that the dog was hit as well, but he was unsure as the dog ran up Haven Street. The dark colored, medium sized dog is still missing.

The man was transported to the hospital, police said.
