Male Cited After Head-On Collision in North Reading

Both parties involved in the accident were transported to the hospital.

A Lynnfield male will be cited after a head-on collision in North Reading Thursday morning, according to the North Reading Police Department.

At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, several emergency callers reported a head-on crash at 31 Main St. in North Reading. Both the police and fire departments responded to the scene of the accident. 

A 24-year-old Lynnfield male was driving a Ford Escape southbound on Route 28 when he became distracted, crossed over the center line and hit a Toyota Corolla, according to early investigations by police. The Corolla was being operated by a 71-year-old North Reading female. Both parties were injured and transported to the hospital, police said.

The male operator will be cited for failure to stay within marked lanes.
