Authorities have confirmed that the mummified remains of a body found in a Michigan garage were those of a Massachusetts woman.

Pia Farrenkopf was last seen alive in 2008 when she received a traffic ticket.

Authorities said she lived alone in a home in Pontiac, Michigan. Her mummified body was discovered in the back of her Jeep in March by a contractor sent to her home because she stopped making mortgage payments.

Authorities said there was no evidence of foul play.

The Detriot Free Press reported this week that a medical examiner confirmed the remains belonged to Farrenkopf. The cause of death could not be determined.

Authorities said Farrenkopf lived by herself, worked in finance and often traveled.

''It kills us to read that maybe nobody cared for her,'' nephew Eric Logan of Plymouth, Mass., told The Associated Press. ''All of us are just devastated."

As usual. this story makes no sense. If there was no foul play, then WHO mummified her body? A body doesn't become mummified all by itself..it''s a preserving process that is done by somebody else.

Drew, bodies can occasionally become mummfied naturally under very specific environmental conditions. It if was dry enough long enough ( in the north that usually means cold and dry during winter) a body can naturally dry out enough to mummify.
