Police Log: Assault Charges Filed After Fence Argument

1:33 a.m. A caller reported that someone had torn flowers out of the ground near the sign the main entrance for Austin Preparatory School.

5:06 a.m. An anonymous caller reported a truck emptying a Dumpster at Romano’s Macaroni Grill on Walkers Brook Drive. The truck departed before an officer arrived.

7:03 a.m. The fire department responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at a South Street residence.

7:59 a.m. A Prescott Street resident reported that someone had stolen her identity.

9:27 a.m. Reading Gymnastics reported that someone pried screens off of its windows and entered the building. Police reported that the burglar entered through a rear door and opened a cashbox, but left without any cash.

10:01 a.m. Reading’s animal control officer assisted a Buckingham Drive resident who had a bird in her house.

10:09 a.m. An officer issued a summons for assault and battery to Sean Naughton, 39, of Reading following a report that an argument on Salem Street had come to blows.

4:19 p.m. A Knollwood Road resident reported that her residence had been broken into. Officer spoke to the caller’s neighbors, who reported that they had not seen anything suspicious during the daytime. Police reported that the burglar had broken in through a back door and stole jewelry and a television.

5:35 p.m. Reading Police and Fire responded to an alarm at a Sanborn Street property and found that it had been set off by cooking-related smoke.

6:12 p.m. A Lucy Drive resident reported a dog constantly barking in the area. An officer spoke to the dog’s owner, who agreed to take the dog inside for the evening.

7:14 p.m. The Reading Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Archstone Circle. The caller said she saw no sign of fire or smoke and that she was unable to silence the alarm.

9:39 p.m. The Reading Fire Department informed the Reading Municipal Light Department of arcing wires atop a pole on Francis Drive.

10:30 p.m. Officers responded to a hold up alarm at the Bank of America on Main Street. An employee there told police that he had entered the incorrect pass code into the bank’s alarm system.
