Police Log: Handbags Stolen and Wild Animals Spotted

The following information was supplied by the Wilmington Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Tuesday, November 13 to Thursday, November 15.

Tuesday, November 13

12:09 a.m.: At the clothing bin behind St. Dorothy's Church, a white minivan was parked at the bin. The party climbed in and removed bags and was currently going through them. The van since left the area and was gone on arrival.

1:24 p.m.: Walking into the station, a party reported threats by another resident in town.

4:04 p.m.: On Dorchester Street, a resident reported that her son saw a bear in their backyard. He stated that the bear retracted into the woods.

8:57 p.m.: Car 37 hit a deer in Billerica. Their town's department will take pictures and make a report.

Wednesday, November 14

11:29 a.m.: A caller at Woburn Street and Kenmore Ave. reported a coyote in the road near the location. The animal did not appear to be sick or injured. The caller was advised to let the animal be.

3:53 p.m.: On Avalon Drive, a domestic incident occurred and the party involved took off. Police located the Methuen man and summonsed him on charges of witness intimidation.

Thursday, November 15

7:17 a.m.: A Revere Ave. caller reported that overnight someone threw a rock at his son's car window and broke it, damaging the passenger side window.

7:23 a.m.: During his travels, an officer noticed that a home on Salem Street had been toilet papered.

10:54 a.m.: On Butters Row, a caller reported that an unhealthy fox came out of the woods and was scratching at her door. The fox ran back into the woods, but the Animal Control Officer stayed on scene to check the area. Animal Control was unable to locate the fox and it seemed to have run back into the woods. About an hour later, another resident called to report an animal under his porch, and it was the same fox. But when approached it ran back into the woods.

12:50 p.m.: A Norfolk Ave. caller reported that when she is not at home, a man comes and chips away at her foundation and it is getting bad. Police spoke with the resident, who said she has leaks in the basement due to groundwater being so heave from recent storms.

6:42 p.m.: From TJ Maxx, an employee called to request an officer regarding a past larceny that occurred at 4:40 p.m. today. Six handbags were taken from the store.
