Police Log: Reading Woman Charged With Drunk Driving

Notable entries from the Wednesday, Sept. 28 police logs.

2:43 a.m. An officer spoke to a man that had been roaming the area near the intersection of Main Street and Washington Street for an hour. The man reported that he was staying with a friend.

6:36 a.m. A Walnut Street resident reported hearing someone on the rear porch. An officer checked the residence and found nothing suspicious there.

10:44 a.m. A caller reported hearing a loud bang, like a gunshot, near the intersection of West Street and Willow Street. An officer checked the area and found roofers working, using a nail gun and dropping items from a roof.

12:23 p.m. A Hillside Road resident reported that someone had stolen the satellite radio from his vehicle.

1:00 p.m. An officer issued a citation to Katherine Finn, 22, of Belmont charging her with driving without a license in a vehicle with no inspection sticker or registration.

2:52 p.m. An officer responded to a report of youths running into the street near the intersection of Green Street and Main Street. The youths told the officer that they had a lemonade stand and were attempting to stop cars to find customers. The officer spoke with the kids’ mother, who said she would keep her children out of the street.

3:23 p.m. A Bancroft Avenue resident reported that she had come home to find her house ransacked. Whoever entered the home stole a computer and a camera.

4:13 p.m. A Pleasant Street woman reported that she found her basement window broken.

4:49 p.m. A passer-by reported seeing a drunken woman at the Green Tomato on High Street. As a result of the call, an officer arrested Debra Firicano, 43, of Wilmington and charged her with disorderly conducted, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and threatening to commit a crime. Police also took her into protective custody.

6:00 p.m. An officer issued a citation to Glenn Walsh, 51, of Rowley charging him with driving an uninsured vehicle with a revoked registration and an expired inspection sticker.

7:10 p.m. Dispatch notified the Massachusetts Highway Department of a burned out bulb in a traffic light at the intersection of Main Street and Franklin Street.

7:17 p.m. Following a report of a man and a woman looking into vehicles parked near the intersection of Green Street and High Street, an officer issued a citation to Allen Bolden Jr., 29, and homeless charging him with possession of brass knuckles.

9:04 p.m. An Orange Street resident reported a large group of youths in the area disturbing neighbors. The group left before an officer arrived.

9:54 p.m. An officer responded to a report that youths at Parker Middle School had tipped over a soccer goal. The group departed before an officer arrived.

9:59 p.m. Following a traffic stop near the intersection of Summer Avenue and Woburn Street, an officer arrested Mary Thornton, 45, of Reading and charged her with driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and violating the road’s marked lanes.
