On September 11, 2013 Reading Police Officers Sgt. John Mckenna, Officer Matthew Edson, Officer David Savio, Officer Sean Wilson, and Officer John Edson completed “Sean’s Ride”.
This bicycle ride honored MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, who was killed in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Every year police officers participate in Tour De Force to honor those who lost their lives during the September 11 attacks. This year, cyclists left Ground Zero and rode to Providence, R.I.
This is where riders met up with the Sean’s Ride Officers, who rode 65 miles from Providence to Boston, crossing the Boston Marathon finish line to end the event. Temperatures were a blistering 90 plus degrees.
The Reading Officers wanted to thank their sponsors for supporting this extraordinary event.
The following companies and association made the event possible, with their generous donations, including: Lombardo Construction, Reading Rotary, Reading Police Patrolman’s Association, Reading Police Superior Officer’s Association, Reading Police/Fire Dispatchers Association, Stoneham Ford, Lt. David Stamatis, and Officer Christopher Voegelin.
