Reading Police Department Logs on to Facebook

The town's police force previously joined Twitter, and they recently joined the world of Facebook as well.

Technology is always changing, and the Reading Police Department's strategy in that area is as well.

According to a press release from the department, Reading Police is now using Facebook as a tool to connect with the community.

Reading Police joined Twitter several years ago, and now has over 2,300 followers. Police Chief James Cormier said he hopes for similar success with the new Facebook page.

"We are always looking at new ways to keep Reading residents up to date with the work of our department," said Cormier. "We are hoping that Facebook and Twitter allow us to directly communicate and interact with the people we serve."

According to Cormier, the department will use the Facebook page to get out important public safety information, and also allow residents to get to know more about the work Reading's officers do.

"The use of social media will allow us to connect with people on a new level," said Cormier. "We hope that it also increases the positive interactions we have with people who use social media on a regular basis."
