Schools 'Shelter In Place' Briefly Friday Afternoon

Mass State Police stop suspect after short chase through Reading.


Reading Memorial High School, Coolidge Middle School and Birch Meadow Elementary School were all "sheltered in place" briefly Friday afternoon while the Massachusetts State Police apprehended a suspect.

According to the Reading Police, the state police helicopter assisted troopers with stopping the suspect who fled police during a traffic stop. 

The "shelter in place" order was a "precaution," said police. 

The suspect is now in custody.
