Two Arrested on Prostitution Charges in Reading

The arrests were made at Lotus Blossom Bodyworks and Asian Bodyworks.

Ling Ling Wang, 47, of 61 Kenberma Rd., Worcester and Wen Qui, 36, of 144 Brook St., Quincy were arrested Thursday in Reading on charges of sexual conduct for a fee, according to police.

Reading Police detectives worked with North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) detectives to investigate alleged prostitution at the Lotus Blossom Bodyworks at 274 Main St. and Asian Bodyworks at 150 Main St.

According to a recent press release from Reading Police, an undercover police officer posed as a customer and went into both businesses. Wang was arrested at Asian Bodyworks and Qui was arrested at Lotus Blossom Bodyworks. Both were arrested on charges of sexual conduct for a fee and will be arraigned in Woburn District Court on Feb. 22.

Legalize the oldest profession, cut back the frequency of std's, and free up local police for more significant assignments!!

Looks like Domino's Pizza will see a drop-off in their walk-in business.

We Laschi Hairstylists & Day spa who are in the same building that the arrest happened in are so glad it finally happened. The sketchy men going in and out we felt were a threat to our staff. We were very suspicious of the business that went in about 1 month ago. We no longer own the building so we do not have control over who is a tenant. Our day spa which is located on the second floor caught the biggest brunt of this illegal business and made it known that they thought something was not quite right going on beside them. We let the new building owners know that we were suspicious...they took the reins and we are grateful for that as well. Then everyone had to let the police do their job. The term "bodywork" according to the state of MA does not have to have a state license. They just need a permit from the town. There are many of these "bodywork" places around. The police in every town have a lot of work ahead of them to clean this up. Look up how many more are in the town of Reading...does the town of Reading need money that bad that they give permits to prostitution rings. Great work by the Reading police department and all who helped on the case. My staff and I thank you very much, and were hoping this day came!

Amy great plug for your business :P Are you saying all the bodywork businesses in Reading are really just shells for prostitution?
Amy February 22, 2013 at 04:11 PM
Helen, a plug maybe. But I'm not sure if it is the publicity we would like. After fox 25 showed the whole building in the news I felt I should say something. I know that it is common for the type of bodywork business to be a shell, after seeing one in my own town I live in shut down. And now another popped up here. If you search them on the Internet you can see some very questionable websites. If they all are a shell, that is up to all our police to find that out. I just don't understand why the town and whomever grants these permits are unaware. I hope after this that more towns will become aware.

A few minutes on google answers Helen - Of course they are shells for prostitution&not just in Reading! Googled lotus bodyworks, reading ma, to see if this is an "official" business listed anywhere. What I got linked to was a craiglist listing for TODAY (http://boston.craigslist.org/thp/) of a bunch of shady-sounding Asian bodyworks places all over the area, including the exact one in Reading at 150 Main street busted yesterday (see http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/thp/3635306523.html). Look at descriptions, they're very vague about services, saying things like "infuse the body and bring it back to life". These places seem to be right in middle of "normal" seeming retail zones, like in Reading, right next to Applebees in Woburn. Amy - you're absolutely right about why isn't the town aware of this. Google shows similar bust in Reading @360 Main in Nov 2012, see: http://www.wickedlocal.com/reading/news/x1890075718/Reading-Police-make-prostitution-arrests-at-Reading-Body-Wellness-Center#axzz2Le854Hyr Police need to make ZBA aware, too - in 2011 one such business went before ZBA to get permit to open such a place @ 95 main st (they got it), see http://www.ci.reading.ma.us/pages/readingma_appealsmin/2011-12-01.pdf Her attorney told town that Asian Bodyworks is "similar to" but not exactly the same as massage therapy- Without exactly saying what it is, of course. Asian Bodyworks not considered an allowed service in town, but massage therapy is.
