Continuance Granted for Proposed Senior Housing Project

The proposed senior living project hearing was delayed so the group can address initial concerns by the CPDC.

Planners for a proposed senior living center at the former Eric's Greenhouse were granted another continuance during a Monday Community Planning and Development Commission, according to a report in the Daily Times Chronicle.

The plans were initially slated to be discussed on July 8 at a public hearing, but that scheduled discussion has been pushed back multiple times since it was first brought before a public hearing on June 24.

Planners told Patch in February that the project would be a 64-unit facility at 1090-1100 Main Street for elderly residents who need help with activities of daily living, such as dressing and eating. If the timeline laid out over the winter remains on track, ground could be broken late this year or early 2014.

But for the immediate future, plans remain in limbo. Still, according to the newspaper report, planners believe the end result will be a positive one.

"I think the CPDC will ultimately be happy,"said attorney Brad Latham during Monday's meeting, according to the Daily Times Chronicle. "The applicant is taking longer than anticipated to bring attention to what needs to be addressed."
