Monday School Committee Meeting to Address Bullying, Building Names

Monday's meeting kicks off at 7 p.m. at the high school.

Reading School Committee members are slated to discuss a variety of issues during a Monday meeting, including the district's bullying policy and the possible renaming of three buildings around town.

Monday's session will begin at 7 p.m. inside the Superintendent's Conference Room at Reading Memorial High School.

After a variety of reports to open the meeting, School Committee members will have a second reading and likely acceptance of the district's new bullying prevention policy.

Under New Business, board members will hear 10-minute presentations from three resident groups who will each give their explanation for why they nominated town buildings to be renamed after important community figures.

Doug and Elaine Webb will present why the Engineering Classroom should be named the Fred C. Wales Engineering Lab, the Robichaud family hopes for an unspecified building to be named after retired Wood End Elementary School teacher Sally H. Mucica, and Linda Jenney seeks to name the administrative offices hallway at the high school Spence's Way at Reading Memorial High School Administrative Offices.

Among the other items on the agenda for Monday is the approval of RMHS field trips, a discussion of the 2014-15 school calendar, and the acceptance of a donation to the Killam School.
