With Reading's local election just around the corner, it's crunch time for candidates running for office in contested races.

John Arena and Karen Gately Herrick are both vying to fill the seat on the Board of Selectmen set to be vacated by current Chairperson Camille Anthony, who, in turn, is battling Robert Quinn for the seat soon to be surrendered by Robert Nordstrand, who is retiring.

Incumbents Richard Hahn and Mary Ellen O'Neill are in competition with Marsie West as all three duke it out for two seats on the Reading Municipal Light Department Board of Commissioners.

The 2012 Local Election will be held in conjunction with the state republican primary on March 6. All precincts will be voting at Hawkes Field House at Reading Memorial High School.
