“Richard--with his experience at the State House and his experience in owning a business--he gets sustainable government," she said. "Sustainable government means a government that can carry on without going back to the voters and asking for more and more money, and spending money that we don’t have. [Richard] gets that.”

Recently, a similar effort by women who support the congressman. With focus on abortion rights, contraception and women's pay equality as well as close attention to women in polls, this election year is shaping up to be a statement on the role women play in democracy.

“Women understand that we can’t continue going down the same path, and if we do, that the United States won’t look anything like it looks right now,” Tisei said. “People are dying to have leaders who are willing to tell them the truth and who are willing to stand up and try to do the right thing for the country.  What we have in D.C. is just a food fight all the time--and everyone is fighting with each other...our problem right now is that there aren’t enough people [in Washington] who are willing to put America first."

Tisei's mother Beverly was also there, and Tisei said she "is the most important woman in my life."
