Mark Your Calendars - November 17, 2013

The Reading Symphony Orchestra will present our first concert of the 2013 -14 season on November 17 at 3:30 PM at the Parker Middle School (45 Temple St., Reading) under the direction of Maestro Roland Vazquez.

This orchestra is made up of 52 musicians from Reading and the surrounding communities, as well as several musicians who travel from New Hampshire and Maine. Our conductor, Dr. Roland Vazquez has selected an exciting program of music, which includes Grieg's Varen for strings, the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto,
and Dvorak's 9th Symphony "From the New World".

The RSO is proud to feature Yuki Beppu as our violin soloist in the Tchaikovsky.
Miss Beppu is an extraordinarily talented musician, who is already an internationally acclaimed artist at the age of sixteen. Her exceptional performance has inspired the RSO musicians in rehearsals and will delight audience members everywhere.

Dvorak's 9th Symphony "From the New World" was composed in the late 1800's but served as the soundtrack to one of the greatest events of the 20th century.
Astronaut Neil Armstrong played a recording of this piece during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, the first moon landing. Later in the century, the 9th Symphony found itself in space again, as featured in the soundtrack to the ever popular Star Trek:Wrath of Khan film. Without a doubt, this music contains melodies and rich harmonies that are timeless in this universe and beyond.

Tickets are available at the door for this performance.
Adults - $15.00, Senior Citizens and Students $10.00,
Children under 12 - Free
