The Bulldogs losing streak stands at seven after losing to the Testa Corp Bombers, 5-4, on Wednesday night at Malden Catholic High School, after relinquishing another late lead, and then just falling short with a seventh inning rally.

With the loss, the Bulldogs record falls to 5-8 after starting the season 5-1.

The Thunderstorms held out long enough for the Bombers to put together a five-run sixth inning, getting to Bulldog starter Colin McGinn who had been pitching a strong two hit shutout to that point. Harvard’s Josh Klimkiewicz had a lead off with a soft single and then went to third on a two base throwing error. McGinn then issued his first walk of the night.

Derek Cotoni relieved McGinn and induced a ground ball to the drawn-in infield, but the throw to the plate was wild and two runs ended up scoring.

The Bulldogs were unable to limit the damage as Anthony Serino then stroked a two run double, his third hit of the night, to put the Bombers up 4-1. Mark Addessa’s single to bring home Serino proved to be critical making the score 5-1.

The Bulldogs hitting woes continued as they entered the seventh inning with more errors (5) then hits (3), and faced a 5-1 deficit. The Bulldogs quickly loaded the bases with one out after Alex Fischer was hit by a pitch followed by a Steve Buitkus infield hit and a Doug Dellorfon walk.

With two outs, Bill Cataldo stroked a three run double to left center field cutting the margin to 5-4. With Bulldogs at first and second after a Zak Talis walk, Trevor Manzi was robbed of a single on a sliding catch from Mark O’Flynn (Merrimack College) the Bomber center fielder to close out the win.
