NRHS Basketball On a Winning Streak

The boys' varsity basketball team is 13-0 this season.

The North Reading High School boys' basketball team is on a winning streak with a 13-0 record this season, much different to last season's 7-13.

Last year, the team saw multiple injuries according to BostonGlobe.com. This year, they have several secret weapons.

They started to play together in summer leagues, and a few of their team members have been playing together since fifth grade, coach Joseph Casey said in the article.

The team is more committed to defense and averages 59.4 points per game, according to the article. There are nine seniors on the team, leading by example.

John Mastascusa, who transferred from Malden Catholic, is the leading scorer and over six feet tall, the article said. Tommy Hogan, cocaptain Dan Fitzgerald, and Chris Capozolli are also star players.

The Hornets play Newburyport on Feb. 1. and are asking fans to wear gray or pink to help them support Coaches vs. Cancer.
