Reading Bulldogs Racking Up Summer Wins

The Reading Bulldogs are showing no signs of succumbing to the dog days of summer.

More than halfway into the Boston InterCity Baseball League season, Reading sits atop the standings.

The Bulldogs recently ripped off six wins in a row, a streak that was broken on Sunday when the team was edged by the Andre Chiefs, 2-0, at home. Still, the locals are 12-6-1 to date this season, good for a slim lead over the Chiefs, who sit at 12-4 on the campaign.

Reading has proven to be one of the most balanced teams in the eight-team lead. The Bulldogs are near the top of the league in runs scored, and have given up the second fewest number of runs as well.

Zac Talis is among the leading offensive players on the Bulldogs. Tallis leads the team in batting average at .476, is first in hits with 20 and is second with eight runs batted in behind Hank Oringer who is also the only Bulldog to hit a home run so far this year.
