Reading Hockey Advances to State Title With Marathon Shootout Win

Wilmington and Reading went into the 11th round of penalty shots rather than the regulation five, and the Rockets escaped with a 4-3 win.

It took seemingly all night in a game between the best two teams left in Division 1 hockey. But the Reading boys hockey team remains on the Road to the Garden.

Wilmington and Reading couldn't settle the North Division 1 final in regulation. They couldn't settle it in overtime. And they couldn't settle it in double overtime.

But in the 11th round of shootouts, the Rockets finally sealed the win and earned a berth in the state championship game on Sunday versus Braintree at TD Garden, outlasting Wilmington by a 4-3 score.
