Reading Ousts St. Mary's, Will Face Wilmington for North Title

Thanks to a Wednesday victory, the Rockets will take on Wilmington with the winner advancing to the state title game.

Don't let their seeding fool you. The Reading boys hockey team is dangerous. Just ask North Division 1 top seed St. Mary's.

On Wednesday night, the No. 12 Rockets ousted No. 1 ranked St. Mary's of Lynn on the ice of Chelmsford Forum. As a result, the locals earned a date in the sectional final against Middlesex League foe Wilmington on Monday night.

The North final is slated for Monday night at 8 p.m. on the ice of the Tsongas Center in Lowell. The winner of that game will take on either Braintree or Barnstable in the state championship game.

Reading and Wilmington squared off once this season. The Rockets opened their season with a convincing 6-3 win over the Wildcats.

Check back with Reading Patch on Monday for complete coverage of the title game.
