Reading Teams Kick Off MIAA Tournaments This Week

Reading High School has multiple teams in this year’s high school hockey and basketball tournaments.

Reading High School

Girls basketball

Reading High girls' basketball will take on Peabody at 7 p.m. Thursday at Peabody.

The winner will play second-seeded Central Catholic on Saturday at Central Catholic High School.

Reading is the number 9 seed and finished the year at 10-10. Peabody is the number 7 seed and went 15-5.

 

Boys hockey

Reading High has a first round bye and faces off against Arlington Catholic at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Woburn.

Reading finished the year at 12-8-2 and is the number 12 seed in the Division 1 North tournament. Arlington Catholic went 13-6-1 and is the number 5 seed.

The winner of Wednesday’s game will skate against the winner of Melrose vs. Chelmsford on 3/1.

 

Girls hockey

The Reading High girls' hockey team will take on the winner of the Austin Prep/Masconomet game that takes place on Tuesday. Reading will play the winner at Saturday at Burbank Arena in Reading.

Reading has the number 7 seed in the tourney after a 14-3-3 regular season. The top-seeded team in the tourney is Acton-Boxboro, which went 19-2-0.

 

Austin Prep High School

Girls basketball

Austin Prep High girls basketball will take on Matignon at 7 p.m. Monday at Medford.

The winner will play number one seeded Fenway on Wednesday at Shelburne Center.

Austin Prep is the number 17 seed in Division 4 North and finished the year at 5-13. Matignon is the number 16 seed and went 7-13.

 

Boys hockey

Austin Prep is in the Division 1A hockey tournament as the number 4 seed. They will play a series of games against number 5 seeded Central Catholic. Game 1 of the series will be played at the TD Garden on Sunday at 12 noon.

Austin Prep had a record of 13-4-4 during the regular season while Central Catholic finished with a record of 16-3-3.

 

Girls hockey

The Austin Prep girls hockey team will take on Masconomet at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Stoneham. The winner advances to play Reading on Saturday.

Austin Prep has the number 10 seed in the tourney after a 12-5-3 regular season. Masconoment is the number 23 seed and finished up at 8-8-4.
