Report: Number of RMHS Head Injuries Among State's Highest

In a recent article, the Boston Globe reported that Reading had the fifth-most reported head injuries in recent months.

The Boston Globe recently published an in-depth report on head injuries in high school sports. The study showed that the number of schools reporting their injury data is rising, as is the total number of reported head injuries.

In the article, the newspaper includes a graph of the Top 10 schools in terms of the number of head injuries reported. In that chart, Reading Memorial High School had the fifth highest number reported with 50. Boston College High School reported 63 head injuries, according to the data by the Department of Public Health and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

A total of 4,400 head injuries were reported by 360 public and private schools, according to The Globe report.

However, according to the newspaper, the higher number of reported injuries is a good thing because it shows that more schools are reporting them when they occur. In total, 150 more schools submitted data during the second year the survey was taken.
