Rockets Get Defensive in Win Over Winchester

The Reading High School football team is now 2-1 thanks to a Saturday afternoon road win.

The offense controlled the clock and put enough points on the scoreboard to put Reading in position to win. But it was the defense that stole the show for the Rockets.

On Saturday, the David Shurland and Liam Kenneally found the end zone on rushing touchdowns, but a stellar team defensive effort led the charge as the locals improved to 2-1 with a 13-3 win.

"Very, very, very happy with the way our defense played," said head coach John Fiore. "They all just stepped up today."

Reading hopes to make it two wins in a row Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Rockets travel to face Lexington.
