Strong Freshman Season Reportedly Cut Short by Injury for Reading's Healy

According to the Boston Herald, the Reading Memorial High School graduate recently tore her ACL and is out for the season.

Former Reading Memorial High School standout Olivia Healy was off to a strong start for the University of Richmond women's basketball team, but her freshman season came to an abrupt close recently when she reportedly suffered a torn ACL.

Healy, who was named the 2013 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year, was leading the Spiders with 12.3 points per game through 19 contests this year. But according to the Boston Herald, Healy tore her right ACL last Wednesday during a 67-58 win during which she dropped in 22 points.

On Monday she was named the Atlantic 10 women's basketball Rookie of the Week thanks to back-to-back games with 20 points or more, including the game she was injured in.

Earlier this month against George Mason, Healy led the team to a 67-64 overtime victory thanks to her 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. It was her fourth double-double of the year, and according to the school it was her second straight tilt with seven assists.

In addition to her 12.3 points per game, she also leads the team with 31 minutes per game, 91 field goals made and 42 steals. She is second on the Spiders with 7.4 rebounds per contest and 11 blocks.

Healy led Reading to an unbeaten state championship two years ago, and propelled the team to a state semifinal appearance last year.
