TURKEY DAY THRILLER: Reading Wins Epic Thanksgiving Game

The Rockets erased a 24-point second half deficit to clip Stoneham

For the first half of play in their Thanksgiving Day game versus Stoneham, the Reading High School football team looked like the tryptophan had kicked in early.

In the second half, however, the Rockets gave their fans plenty to be thankful for during an epic Turkey Bowl that will long be remembered in the history of this rivalry.

Stoneham pounded Reading and took a 30-6 lead in the third quarter. That's when the Rockets took over.

Reading scored 24 straight points led by senior quarterback Drew Belcher, and the locals forced overtime as the game went to the extra frame tied at 30-30.

But with such an epic game, one overtime wasn't going to cut it. Belcher put Reading ahead in the third overtime with a touchdown and senior Liam Kenneally sealed the 44-36 victory with an interception.
