Reading sports get underway this month.
Following the football Super Bowl games at the beginning of the month, fall sports season is officially in the books. And that means one thing - the winter teams are up next.

So when does the 2013-14 season begin for Reading Memorial High School teams?

The first Rocket teams started their campaigns over the weekend as the girls basketball team was slated to take on Wilmington on Friday and the wrestling team had a scheduled meet on Saturday against Lawrence. On Sunday, the boys swim team had a scrimmage on the docket, according to USA Today High School Sports.

On Tuesday, the boys and girls track teams travel to Williamston High School, the girls basketball team travels to Burlington and the boys basketball team hosts the same foe at 7 p.m.

Both the boys and girls hockey teams are slated to open their seasons on Wednesday with contests against Burlington.

Just wanted to correct one thing - Reading played Wilmington in boys hockey over the weekend, and the Rockets earned a 6-3 win. The game wasn't listed on the schedule, but thanks to a reader who brought this to my attention!
