Whiz Kids: Reading Gymnasts Excel at State Tournament

The Reading Gymnastics Academy team took sixth overall, with additional individual winners.

Each week, Reading Patch will select a Whiz Kid (or kids) of the Week. This week, we chose the nine gymnasts from Reading Gymnastics Academy who recently captured a sixth-place finish at the state championships.

  • Tricia Woodford, Shaina Fusco, Olivia Soracco, Natasha Lupien, Lola Barrett, Abby Dunn, Khloe Camblin and Elise Rich

  • The team recently competed at the USA Gymnastics Level 4 State Championships and took 6th place overall. Abby Dunn of Wakefield, took 1st place on floor, 2nd on beam and 3rd place overall—which earned her a Star on the Wall of Champions at Reading Gymnastics. Khloe Camblin of Melrose, finished in 2nd place on vault, 3rd Place on beam and 5th place overall. Natasha Lupien from Wakefield took a 3rd place on floor, Olivia Soracco from Reading, got 3rd place on bars, Lola Barrett from Wakefield took a 5th on beam. Everyone's scores contributed to the team finishing in 6th place in the State Team competition with scores from Shaina Fusco from Reading and Elise Rich, of Wakefield, who took 5th on bars, 5th place overall.
  • There secret to awesomeness is the hard work they put in training. These gymnast work out an average of six hours each week with trainers Zach Stein and Michael Hahn.
