One the first day of summer, and the hottest day so far this year, here are some places to go to stay cool.

Today, June 20, is the first day of summer, the longest day of the year and the hottest day we have experienced so far in 2012. The temperature will reach 97 degrees today and drop to 70 in the evening.

Take a look at a few ways to keep yourself cool in the heat and humidity.

Places to Stay Cool:

  • Stop by the Burbank YMCA and cool off by going for a swim in their pool. Teens .
  • Everyone loves a good ice cream sundae when it's hot outside. In North Reading you can get ice cream at , ,  and . In Reading you can stop by ,  or .
  •  and  have air conditioning and are both great places to cool off with a book or magazine. The best part: it's free.

Stop by the Senior Center in North Reading. It is air conditioned and there is no cost. They are open tomorrow from 8am to 4pm. You will meet some of the nicest people in Town there.

It is going to be very hot tomorrow. If you know of a senior citizen who may be home give them a call just to be sure they are Ok during this heat spell if you know they do not have air conditioning. Even if they do it would not hurt to call them and ask if everything is OK.
