A New Holiday At RMHS: Misfit Sock Day!

By Tina Li ('15)

School pride wasn’t the only spirit demonstrated at this year’s pep rally—in addition to RMHS colors, many also donned their favorite mismatched socks in honor of Misfit Sock Day.

Sponsored by the RMHS chapter of A World of Difference (AWOD), Misfit Sock Day was an event dedicated to celebrating diversity among the school community. In wearing misfit socks, students could show their support of their unique “misfit” differences. And what an outpouring of support it was—the community was very enthusiastic from what was shown.

“I was very excited to see many students as well as faculty participating in it,” said Mrs. Allard, one of AWOD’s directors. “The whole idea was a great one. The number of people that were actually walking around this morning proud, showing off their mismatched socks is very telling.”

According to Mrs. Allard, an extension of this event is very possible in the future.
