Marching Band Competition Comes to RMHS on Saturday

Here's a look at some exciting events happening in the coming days in Reading and beyond.

The weekend is here and there are plenty of things to do in Reading and the surrounding area in the upcoming days.

Good Samaritan Open House: On Saturday at 9 a.m., the Good Samaritan Lodge A.F. & A.M. holds an open house at its 110 Haven Street location. Freemasons will give tours of the building and help residents learn more about the fraternity and what it consists of.

Foliage Hike: The Reading Trails Committee invites residents to walk the newest entrance trail at Town Forest on Saturday at 2 p.m. Meet where Sunset Rock Road combines with the Wood End Elementary School driveway, and hikers will talk to two-mile round trip trail, lasting about 1-1.5 hours.

Marching Band Competition: Reading Memorial High School is the host of the NESBA Marching Band Show on Saturday from 5-10 p.m. There will be performances from 15 high school marching bands, and the Rockets will take the field for their performance between 8-8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students.

Discount Golf: On Sunday, Hillview Golf Club in North Reading is holding "2-Fer Family Fun Day," which will include longest drive, putting, closest to the pin and target shot competitions for the cost of a $2 ticket. In addition, there will be a DJ, crafts, food and games. The event begins at 1 p.m.
