Reading Rotary Hosts Octoberfest Auction

Here's a look at some exciting events happening in the coming days in Reading and beyond.

The weekend is here and there are plenty of things to do in Reading and the surrounding area in the upcoming days.

Playoff Baseball: It's October, and for the first time in years that means the Red Sox are in the playoffs. The local nine hit the diamond at 3:07 p.m. on Friday and 5:37 p.m. on Saturday. There are plenty of places to watch the game locally, including Scoreboard Bar & Grill, which offers $1 franks during the game and $10 burger a beer deals if you wear your Red Sox gear.

Yard Sale: A family at 208 Grove Street is holding a Saturday morning yard sale beginning at 10 a.m. with furniture and "no junk."

Boat Sale: In Wilmington at Shriners Auditorium the boat expo and sale runs on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is for residents looking to make a purchase, or just look around. Admission and parking are free.

Octoberfest: The Reading Rotary Club hosts its annual Octoberfest silent and live auction on Saturday at 6 p.m. inside Hillview Country Club in North Reading. The event includes authentic Octoberfest cuisine made by Brian Shue of Sanborn Place in Reading. There will be more than 100 items available and proceeds from the event will be donated in the community and internationally.

Road Race: Austin Prep School hosts its second annual 5k Community Road Race, including a Kids Fun Run and a cookout as well. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. inside the gym and the race begins at 10 a.m.
