Weekend Planner: Ben & Jerry's Festival and Back to School at Whole Foods

Here are a few things you can do this weekend without driving too far outside of Reading.

Welcome Back to School at Woburn Whole FoodsWoburn students head back to their classrooms next week, and on Saturday at Whole Foods in Woburn you can celebrate with a special event.

The popular business offers "fun, prizes, and delicious food" on the day, according to its Patch event page. There will be swag bags for the first 30 customers to come to the Back to School sampling table, and Whole Deal books available to pick up with coupons, recipes, meal ideas and tips for going back to school on a budget.

Boston Ben & Jerry's FestivalJust a quick drive down I-93 will get you to a great festival, and at no cost. Ben & Jerry's is hosting the Boston Fair Trade music Festival on Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at the Prudential Center North Terrace.

The event is free and features music from Ryan Montbleau Band and The Off Chance, and of course there will be free samples throughout the day, according to the Patch event page.

Bread and Roses FestivalAlso just a half hour drive away in Lawrence, you can attend the annual festival at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, which is Labor Day.

The event includes music, theatre, dance, story-telling and a variety of other entertainment set up on three stages. In addition, there will also be vendors offering food, arts and crafts, and merchandise. The event attracts thousands each year, according to the Patch event page.
