Your Guide: Puppy Swim

The Burbank YMCA is holding their first annual puppy swim fundraiser to benefit the annual fund. Bring your four legged friends to the benefit on Sunday, August 25 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Bring your dog or puppy to the Y to swim in the therapy pool before it's drained for yearly cleaning. You do not have to be a member to participate. The benefit will feature free treats for all participants and their owners. Attendants will get to meet Bentley the Burbank Y Boston Strong Terrier mascot.

“The Y is so much more than a place to work out or swim,” Burbank Y Executive Director Irene Collins said in a recent release. “In 2012, the Burbank Y gave over $200,000 in free programs and child care services to local individuals and families who could not otherwise afford them. With the weakened economy, request for support has grown. Increasing donations to our Annual fund has become an even more important part our responsibility. I asked the staff to think of a fun and engaging way to raise money and they enthusiastically proposed the Puppy Swim.”

The cost is $20 per dog for a 30 minute swim. Register in person at the Y or call 781-944-9622. You just need proof of a rabies vaccination and the vaccine must have been completed a minimum of 1 week prior to the benefit.
