Birch Meadow Athletic Complex

Flag as Inappropriate

The crown jewel of Reading's parks, the athletic complex features Reading Memorial High School Stadium, Morton Field, Castine Field, the Reading Community Tennis Courts at Birch Meadow and fields for softball, youth baseball, youth softball, a lighted basketball court, the Imagination Station Playground and the Grant Memorial Pool.

RMHS Stadium offers plenty of seats for watching Reading Memorial High School football, soccer and track. Recreation runners can use the track, but are asked to not use lanes 1 and 2, and instead stay on lanes 3 through 8. Forbidden from the track are bicycles, cleated shoes, rollerblades, heelies, carriages and animals. The stadium also includes handicapped-accessible bathrooms in the same building as the Lions Den concession stand.

Nearby, lacrosse fans can take advantage of limited metal stands.

Beyond the nearby softball fields is Morton Field, which is the home of the RMHS baseball team. The grass field includes limited metal benches for spectators and nearby batting cages. It's best to park along the tennis courts on Bancroft Avenue for Morton Field.

The nearby tennis courts offer recreation on six courts, and a wall that allows tennis players to practice their game. Each of the courts is separated by a fence, so players don't have to worry about the embarrassment that comes with a poor shot that bounces onto an adjacent court.

Next to the courts on Bancroft Avenue is the playground, which features slides, swings and play apparatus for children.
