Town Manager

The Town Manager oversees the management of all town affairs and is accountable of implementing and managing all policies, programs and procedures that have been decided on by the board and town meeting. Additionally, the Town Manager is responsible for budget preparation and implementation, hiring personnel and negotiating labor contracts. He is also the chief procurement officer and is responsible for all town property except school property. He serves as the town's ombudsman and performs all duties in conformance with the Reading Home Rule Charter. Peter I. Hechenbleikner is the Town Manager who also serves as the chief administrative officer of the Town of Reading. He can be reached at 781-942-9043.
