Top Stories: Junta, Hollingsworth, Implosion and Poll Results

Nearly all of you think drugs are at least as bad in Reading as anywhere else.

1) Quinlan Junta Dies. Reading Patch broke the news Sunday that Quinlan Junta had died. The Reading Memorial High School alumnus and stand-out hockey player had had a tumultuous last few months of life; at the time of his death, he was awaiting trial for assault and robbery charges. Reading Patch readers also took the time this week to remember Junta at better moments. 2) John Hollingsworth Field dedicated. Okay, this actually happened last week, but Reading Patch this week brought you photos and videos from the event that brought hundreds of RMHS graduates back to the school to see their favorite coach. 3) Addison Wesley building imploded. In Loving Memory of Rev. Jean M. Russo-Parks

September 11, 1957 to October 4th, 2011. Services held at the Old South United Methodist Church here in Reading.

Reading's Old South Methodist Church lost a former pastor recently when Rev. Jean Russo Parks died Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Philip Hulitar In-Patient Center, Providence, R.I. She was 54. Russo-Parks served as the pastor of the Old South Methodist Church for ten years before becoming the pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in Lincoln 11 years ago. He funeral was held at the Reading church she used to preside over Monday.

Obiturary: Former Police Chief Henry J. "Hank" Purnell

Former North Reading Police Chief Henry J. "Hank" Purnell died Sept. 9 at the age of 69.
