The North Shore Skating Club has been providing ice skating lessons and training for North Shore residents of allMore ages since 1948. It is currently housed in the Burbank Ice Arena in Reading. It also uses the Hockeytown arena in Saugus. Freestyle skating open times are hosted seven days a week. Club members and non-members are both welcome to sign up for open skate. 

The North Shore Skating Club has both senior and junior skating clubs. Both groups are trained and prepared for skate competitions. The Senior Club represents the club in competitions. The club is affiliated with the U.S. Figure Skating Organization. The instructors are experienced and professional figure skaters and they will encourage students to reach full potential. It has an annual awards ceremony recognizing skating members who exemplify certain criteria. All members perform in the annual Ice Spectacular expose.

Operated by the Reading Ice Arena Authority, Burbank Ice Arena is a skating rink that offers open public skating asMore well as private lessons held by the North Shore Skating Club. The open skate schedule can be viewed on its Web site.

Burbank Arena hosts hockey practice and games. Skate rentals and skate sharpening are available on-site. The arena can be rented for public or private events under certain restrictions. Located close to Route 128, Sturges Park features recreation activities for various ages and interests. The parkMore includes a youth softball/youth soccer field, a basketball court, a tennis court, an area for ice skating in the winter and a playground that features four swings, slides and playground equipment. There is also ice skating in the winter. Organized groups must get a permit to reserve playing fields.
