VNA of Middlesex-East opened the nine-bed Sawtelle Family Hospice House in 2003 for patients with terminalMore illnesses.

Each patient has a private room that comes with a television, phone and Internet access, as well as a sitting area for friends and family. Seven of the rooms also offer private bathrooms. 

The hospice provides common areas, such as community kitchens, a dining area, a library, a garden, a living room and a sunroom. The house also offers three private guest bedrooms for family members who would like to stay overnight. 

Visitors are welcome 24 hours a day and pets may also visit.

The North Shore Skating Club has been providing ice skating lessons and training for North Shore residents of allMore ages since 1948. It is currently housed in the Burbank Ice Arena in Reading. It also uses the Hockeytown arena in Saugus. Freestyle skating open times are hosted seven days a week. Club members and non-members are both welcome to sign up for open skate. 

The North Shore Skating Club has both senior and junior skating clubs. Both groups are trained and prepared for skate competitions. The Senior Club represents the club in competitions. The club is affiliated with the U.S. Figure Skating Organization. The instructors are experienced and professional figure skaters and they will encourage students to reach full potential. It has an annual awards ceremony recognizing skating members who exemplify certain criteria. All members perform in the annual Ice Spectacular expose.

Central Custom Tailoring is a small, privately owned tailor. Owner Abdu Firat grew up in Turkey, where he startedMore mending clothes at an early age. In 1992 Mr. Firat relocated to the United States and in 2003, after working as an alterations specialist for numerous companies including Burberry and Neiman Marcus, he opened his own shop. 

There is no limit to Mr. Firat's abilities. He works with men's, women's, and children's clothing, hems pants and skirts, alters bridal wear and gowns, replaces buttons and zippers and alters suede and leather garments. He can even custom create men's clothing, doing all work himself on site.

Tailoring and alterations are not the only services available at Central Custom Tailoring. There is also Dry Cleaning services (sent off site), tuxedo rentals and a small retail section. Items for sale include winter coats for women and children, men's suits, handcrafted head scarves and knitted house slippers from Turkey, and men's shirts and ties.
