Town Forest
90 Strout Ave, Reading, MA 01867

The 290-acre Town Forest was created in 1930 when Boy Scouts and other residents came together to plant more thanMore 100,000 red and white pine, spruce, balsam and scotch pine trees in the northwestern part of town.

There are many trails for walkers and bicyclists, but the trails can be muddy depending on the time of year. Camping is allowed by permit only. Cross-country ski trails are also available. 

In addition to the wooded areas, the Town Forest also features vernal pools and the Ipswich River. 

The forest is overseen by the Town Forest Committee.

The main entrances are on Fox Run Lane and Strout Avenue. A third entrance is on Roma Lane.
