Rep. Jones: Governor's Budget Approach 'Extremely Irresponsible'

House Republican leader criticizes Patrick's budget plan as too focused on the Governor's legacy, not enough on taxpayers.

House Republican Leader Brad Jones, whose district includes North Reading, called Governor Deval Patrick’s 2014 budget “short-sighted and irresponsible” in a statement on Thursday. The governor unveiled a $34.8 billion budget plan for 2014 this week, marking a 6.9% increase over the 2013 budget. The state income tax would rise to from 5.3% 6.25% and the sales tax would fall from 6.25% to 4.5% under the Patrick plan. "The Administration's method of reckless taxation as a means towards revenue, while tapping into the ‘Rainy Day’ fund, is both shortsighted and extremely irresponsible," said Jones.  Rep. I agree with Brad, but he continues to says nothing with regard to the local(North Reading) increase of 11% in property taxes for the new schools project. His" reckless" comment as to Governor Patrick's income tax proposal is heartening. Brad Jones Re-Elected As House Minority Leader

State Rep., whose district includes North Reading, is re-elected as House minority leader.

Representative Bradley H. North Reading Awarded Local Cultural Council Grant

Over $3,500 in Grants Given to North Reading by Massachusetts Cultural Council.

The following was submitted by the office of Rep. Jones:  Representative Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) and Senator Bruce Tarr (R-Gloucester), in conjunction with the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), are pleased to announce that the North Reading Cultural Council has been awarded a Local Cultural Council Program grant from the MCC totaling $3,870. Jones, Tarr Secure Funding for North Reading Program

Money was awarded for the Child Safety Grant.

The following was submitted by the office of Rep. Brad Jones: House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) and Senate Minority Leader Bruce E. Tarr (R-Gloucester) today announced that they were successful in securing $50,000 in funding for a child safety grant for the Town of North Reading.  The grant, initially secured in the Fiscal Year 2013 budget, will be used to fund the Community Impact Team (CIT) - a collaboration between the North Reading Youth Services Department, Town administration, the North Reading Police Department, and numerous other town departments. “This grant will go a long way in enabling the Town of North Reading and the Community Impact Team to raise awareness about substance abuse in the community” …

I hear this has been going on for over a year, the police know all baout it but still no arrests. Jones, Tarr on Tisei's Leadership Team

North Reading' state representative and senator are helping lead Richard Tisei's run for Congress.

As the 6th Congressional District campaign rages forward, Richard Tisei is bringing big names on board his campaign. Team Tisei has announced a Leadership Team made up of former gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker, state Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr and state House Minority Leader Brad Jones. Tarr and Jones both represent North Reading and Jones represents a portion of Reading. Tisei ran as Baker's running mate in 2010. The duo lost that election to Gov.
