Reading Man Dies in Car Accident Monday

A 59-year-old Reading man died in a car accident in Boxford.

According to an article on WCVB.com, a 59-year-old Reading man died in a car accident in Boxford. Around 9:30 a.m., the car, traveling from North Andover to the intersection of Brookview Road and Lawrence Road in Boxford, hit a snowbank and then a utility pole before wrapping around a tree, the article said. The man was removed from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life and did not survive. His name has not been released yet. The Boxford Fire Department and a Boxford rescue unit responded to the accident. The cause of the accident is unknown. Police believe that slippery roads may have been the cause, CBS.com said.

Male Cited After Head-on Collision in North Reading

Both parties involved in the accident were transported to the hospital.

According to the North Reading Police Department, a Lynnfield male will be cited after a head-on collision in North Reading Thursday morning. At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, several emergency callers reported a head-on crash at 31 Main Street in North Reading. Both the police and fire departments responded to the accident.  A 24-year-old Lynnfield male operator was driving a 2005 Ford Escape southbound on Route 28 when he became distracted or took his eyes off the road and crossed over the center line and struck a 97 Toyota Corolla, according to early investigations by police. The Corolla was being operated by a 71-year-old North Reading woman. Both parties were injured and transported to the hospital, police said. The male operator will be cited …

North Reading Resident Arrested After Crashing Car Into Houses on Park Street

Two houses on Park Street were hit.

After crashing his vehicle into two houses on Park Street in North Reading, Daniel Kaepplinger, 22, of 9 Fieldstone Way, North Reading was arrested for operating under the influence and failure to stay in marked lanes. Several emergency callers reported the accident at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. Kaepplinger was alone in the vehicle as he drove east on Route 62 and crossed over into the west bound lane, according to police. He was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, drove over the sidewalk and hit 140 Park St. The vehicle continued through the side yard and then hit 136 Park St. The front porch and support beams at 140 Park St. were damaged as well as the porch at 136 Park St.  The operator was not injured. UPDATED: Car Crashes into Hair Salon, Nail Spa

A motorist crashed into the Main Street businesses around 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

A motorist driving a Toyota Prius on Main Street crashed into the front of two Main Street businesses around 11:45 a.m. Thursday morning. According to North Reading Police, the female driver first hit the Heritage Building sign, panicked and then crashed into the windows of Performance Plus Hair Salon and Chic Nails & Spa. Stylist Laura Hidish of Methuen was inside the salon when the Toyota drove into the front of the store.  "If I was doing hair in my chair it would've hit someone," she said. "Everyone was really lucky." Receptionist Ashley Madison of Dracut was also at the salon.  "I was in the back room and I thought one of the shelves broke, but then I heard them screaming," Madison said. The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Wednesday through Thursday. The information is open to the public. Wednesday At 7:44 a.m., police responded to a minor motor-vehicle accident on Concord Street. No injuries were reported. At 8:25 a.m., a Main Street caller reported missing medication and a notebook computer. At 10:51 a.m., a resident reported receiving a harassing phone call.
