Man in Mask Reported Walking Wednesday Night

This is an excerpt from the North Reading police log for March 16-17.

The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Wednesday through Thursday. The information is open to the public. Wednesday At 12:18 p.m., police received a call of a young child accidentally locked inside a running motor vehicle. The call was transferred to the fire department for assistance. At 2:35 p.m., police confiscated two handicapped placards due to fraudulent use in the parking lot at 72 Main St. At 4:39 p.m., police responded to a dispute over scratch tickets at 7-Eleven on Main Street. At 5:56 p.m., police received a call from the manager at Walmart, reporting an individual was at the store taking photographs of children. The person was gone on arrival, and the incident remains …

And the Winner of Our Favorite Hot Beverage Contest Is...

Dunkin' Donuts barely came out on top.

The votes are in, and Dunkin' Donuts narrowly edged out the competition in our search for North Reading's favorite spot to get a hot drink. Dunkin' Donuts received three votes, just beating out Beyond Bagels, The Centre Cafe and Ryer's, which each received two votes apiece. The yet-to-open Heav'nly Donuts even received a vote from a reader who hoped it would offer more than just coffee. We selected one reader at random to receive a $10 gift certificate to his or her favorite place. Congratulations to Betty DeStefano, one of the Dunkin' Donuts followers, whose name was chosen.
