North Reading Resident Honored With Four Emmy Awards for Television Show

Jonathan Bird’s Blue World was awarded four 2012 Boston/New England Emmy Awards.

Resident Jonathan Bird’s television show Blue World was awarded four 2012 Boston/New England Emmy Awards for Outstanding Children/Youth Program, Outstanding Musical Composition/Arrangement, Outstanding Editor-Program, and Outstanding Magazine Feature/Segment. "They are very good at creating drama at the Emmy awards and intentionally create an atmosphere where you are on the edge of your seat hoping to win. When they open the envelope and say your name, it's hard not to jump up and scream," Bird said. Bird has won an Emmy for the last three years for the family show that explores the world's oceans. North Reading Resident, Jonathan Bird, Wins Emmy

Jonathan Bird’s Blue World takes home three regional Emmy Awards.

There is nothing like being recognized for your hard work and a job well done. Jonathan Bird, host and creator of Jonathan Bird’s Blue World, and his devoted team were the proud recipients of three 2011 New England Emmy Awards which were presented on Saturday, May 14. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Boston/New England held its 34th ceremony in Quincy where Jonathan Bird, himself, received the On-Camera Talent Program-Host/Moderator award and the entire Blue World production team took home two additional awards for best Magazine Feature/Segment for “Lobsters” and best Children/Youth Program for “Antarctica.” The evening was momentous for the Blue World team whose commitment and broad talent has made the television …

When it comes to places that might be home to one of the world's most renowned ocean cinematographers, North Reading might not immediately pop to mind. But for Jonathan Bird, it's home sweet home. Bird has received numerous Emmy awards for his watery work, most recently for his PBS series Jonathan Bird's Blue World, and has produced footage for ABC, National Geographic and Discovery in trips that have taken him around the world.
