Reading Wrong-Way Driver Held on $40k Bail
The Reading man who fled state police in a stolen van yesterday was arraigned in Dorchester District Court this afternoon.
The Reading man who led Massachusetts State Police on a pursuit through Dorchester and South Boston yesterday in a stolen van, before heading into oncoming traffic on Morrissey Boulevard and Interstate 93, will, in all likelihood, be staying put for a while. Richard S. Saunders, 48, of Sturges Road in Reading was arraigned in Dorchester District Court from his hospital bed at Boston Medical Center this afternoon, and was ordered held on $40,000 bail, per prosecutors request, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. Saunders faces numerous charges in Suffolk and Middlesex Counties. Judge Kenneth Desmond also ordered Saunders to turn in his driver’s license and passport and instructed him not to drive while his case is …
