The Varsity baseball team will be recognized Tuesday night at Fenway Park.
The North Reading High School State Championship baseball team will be recognized Tuesday night at Fenway Park. The team will report to Fenway at 6 p.m. before the Red Sox game begins at 7:10 p.m. The team was given complimentary tickets by the Red Sox and will be recognized at their game. The Hornets were asked to wear their jerseys and state championship medals. The Red Sox also asked for action photos of the team to display on the jumbotron. "It should be a great night for the kids and I'm sure they’ll be very excited about being on the field at Fenway," said Coach Frank Carey. The following was submitted by Debra Hill: The Bulls are the North Reading AAA Minor League Baseball Champions. After finishing the season in first place with a record of 9-3, the Bulls posted an undefeated post season run to the championship game. A sign posted in the Bulls dugout stated: "play like a champion today" and that is exactly what each team member did. With every player on the team contributing at least one run, the Bulls were victorious against the spirited Sea Dogs 17-8 after five innings of play.

Dear Friends and Neighbors, I am writing this letter on behalf RJ Warnock and Ryan Mcauliffe, both who are members of the North Reading Hornet 2012 Division 3 State Champion team. RJ and Ryan's outstanding performance during their high school careers has been recognized nationally and internationally; getting them selected to play on Team America Baseball; which will be competing in the International Baseball Tournament in Italy called "Italy Baseball Week, August 19- 27. Team America will be playing against national teams from Italy, Canada, and Czech Republic. North Reading's baseball team won the state championship.
After beating Mount Everett for the State Championship in Worcester, Frank Carey's baseball team arrived home to be met by 200-300 fans and family members. Their buses were led to the high school by a police car and five fire trucks.
The Hornets defeated the Mount Everett Eagles 8-4 in Worcester to give head coach Frank Carey his fifth state title in nearly fifty years of coaching and his first since 1986.
Only two years after posting a losing record, the North Reading Hornets are once again atop the Masschusetts High School baseball world, earning the 2012 Division 3 State Championship on Saturday in Worcester with an 8-4 win over the Eagles of Mount Everett. The Hornets got off to a quick start, chasing Mount Everett starting pitcher Dylan Wheeler in a six-run second inning barrage that saw North Reading bat around the order. However, the Eagles could eat into that newfound lead in their next time at-bat, getting two runs from a John Ormsbee double. North Reading Hornets are the State Champions. North Reading defeated Mount Everett 8-4 Saturday afternoon, thanks to a six-run rally in the second where the Hornets got runs from Eric Gordon, Kyle Boucher, Keith Linnane, Dennis Rollfs and Tom Day, and Ryley Warnock. Warnock also came in to pitch 5 1/3 innings of relief as well as allowing only two hits and giving up no earned runs. Check out our live blog from the game for complete play-by-play.
